Chrome extension
Install TabOnion for Chrome.
The main TabOnion extension keeps your browser New Tab page unchanged, so capture, restore, search, and export work normally without triggering browsers that protect that setting.
- Add the extension. Pin TabOnion so Capture & Close is one click away during research sessions.
- Save one stack. Select the tabs that matter, capture them locally, and close the clutter.
- Review and reuse later. Restore the stack for free, or explicitly export Markdown and portable source stacks when you need AI or docs.
TabOnion does not transfer third-party login state. Cross-device restore restores context, not cookies or session tokens.
Optional edition
Use TabOnion as your New Tab page only if you want that behavior.
The New Tab edition is packaged separately because browsers like Microsoft Edge can disable extensions that change protected browser defaults without a deliberate user choice. Keep the main Chrome Store extension for broad compatibility. Use the separate New Tab build only when you explicitly want TabOnion to open on every new tab.
